How to recover an Excel file

To recover a bad file Excel file open blank workbook click in cell A1 type the following in the formula box

=['c:\test\[filename.xls]sheet1,!A1

where c:\test\[filename.xls is the bad path and filename

This will recover all the data from sheet 1 to the new workbook but not formulas.
