Portable Apps

I wanted to share a bit of information about portable apps.  They are created to be run from memory sticks but they can also be run from a folder on your PC.
Many applications now are portable.
What are the advatages?
  •  There require no admin rights to install as they run from a folder
  • It is easy to backup configurations / settings as its all in one folder so to make a copy just copy the folder.
  • It is esay for you to configure settings and then share that setup with others.
  • No license requirements
Below is a list of what i think are the best.
Mremote - Portable RDP application
Pidgin - Portable Chat client including Google Chat, MSN, AIM, Yahoo + many more
Google Chrome - Browser replacement
Keepass - Portable Password Safe
PDFTK - Split, collate, watermark PDF files
WinSCP - Ftp, SCp client
VLC - Portable media player
7Zip - Zip application which supports RAR + many more file types
Notepad++ - Text editor which will open many many files.
Next time you are looking for an application try searching for a portable version, you never know there might just be one..
